"the trip of a lifetime" .... Matt Goff
Just wanted to write you and tell you what an awesome time we had. it took me almost a week to recover. my kids did not want to leave. Las Olas was so cool. Jason , Christian, Cameron and all of the staff could not have been better. Ive stayed at a lot of hotels all over the world and i have to say jason and his people are some of the best at making you feel at home and helping you with anything to make your visit a great one. We are definitely going back. Thanks for all of your help and finding Las Olas, it was one of the best vacations I've ever had. Ted
We just want to thank you so much for helping us get our trip together. Costa Rica was amazing and the gang at cabinas las olas was incredibly hospitable. We can't say enough good things about the entire experience. The food and lodgings were perfect too. If anyone needs to hear a recommendation we will happily provide one for that particular wavehunters excursion. Also, if you ever need any type of customer relations reference let me know. You went above and beyond with emails and phone calls. I really felt confident and secure about our trip. We look forward to doing more business with Wavehunters in the future.
Many thanks,

I just wanted to tell you that we had an awesome time surfing Costa Rica while staying at the Las Olas Cabanas at the end of July. The weather was no rainier than Florida this time of year (so forget their “rainy season”) and the temperatures were about 10 degrees cooler. We surfed 5 to 9 foot faces every day for five days at several different spots—the wave machine never seems to quit there! We made lots of new friendships with folks there from our hometown and places as far away as Austria. Jason, Cameron, Kyle, Alberto and everyone at Las Olas have definitely got it going on! The place was neat and clean and the accommodations were comfortable. Your Wavehunter’s package included two meals per day at Las Olas which were always highlights of every day. The food was awesome—I never had the same thing twice and every meal was incredibly delicious! Seafood, steak, pizza, banana pancakes—you name it! Dude, you’re gonna hear from us again—we’re planning to go back in the fall! I’ve included a couple of pix that tell the story of a surfin’ safari to deserted black sand beaches with nobody out but you and a couple of buds. What a trip!
Pura Vida!

We had a great trip! The wave were consistant....beatiful chest-to-head high and glassy. Jason & crew took good care of us. I realized you are definitely well known in Hermosa...people spoke highly of you. Las Olas is a great place you started! I just now got your email, as I left work early on December 19th, but Nina did get your package in time for the boys to bring it down. I have a package from Kurt that I'm mailing to you today.
Thanks for setting up a great trip.

Hey Jason,
Whats up? got home yesterday afternoon. I MISS Costa Rica already, I
was already missing it on the drive to the airport.
I stepped outside this morning and the weather here...windy and cold! :(
Just wanted to thank you all for a wonderful time. hope you guys had a
great christmas!
Sorry Rodrigo for having to lug me to the airport so early in the
morning on Christmas Day...listening to Jack Johnson and driving
through Costa Rica was great though.
I would love to see those pictures from Manuel Antonio if you have a
chance to send them to me :)
If you guys are ever in Malibu or Venice California come say Hi!
ciao,

I am writing you guys this note about a trip I not so recently took to Costa Rica that you guys helped me put together. I had intentions of writing you all upon my return, but time flies when you are working for your next trip. At any rate, I am still smiling and chuckling to myself when I think of the adventures I had this past summer in Costa.
John O'Toole helped put together a killer package on a semi-extended trip to Costa, helping in the decision making process abut spots to hit and basic arrangements. We decided on setting up Playa Hermosa as my home base, and I couldn't think of a better place to set up camp- centrally located, within relatively easy access to spots north and south depending on the conditions, and the outstanding, incredibly friendly Cabinas Las Olas. The place is run by Jason Garris, who is as friendly and welcoming as a host can be. The guy oozes good vibes and surrounds himself with people that do the same. The accomodations there are incredibe- great views, great waves, good people, good prices. We surfed out front in the morning and always hooked up with somebody heading to some other cool place for an afternoon/evening session. Corners, Esterillos, even Jaco for a beer run and surf were all great places to check out. And in the afternoon, if we weren't crashed from the surf, there are amazing hikes and cool wildlife to check out. And I would be remiss if I didn't mention the reliable, if not hazy service to and from the airport in the company of Jason and John- thanks for the ride guys!
We headed south for a 5 day mission down to Matapalo, and a better crew of travel partners I couldn't have wished for. Led by Jason, the sense of discovery and exploration was amazing- even though Jason did this stuff for a living, everything had the feeling of being new to all those involved. Costa Rica is a well traveled surf country, but there is still plently waiting to be discovered if you just pull off the road and see where it ends, and Jason was always willing to scout for new spots or at least less traveled ones. We followed the road south for 5 days, staying and surfing in and around Matapalo and making it all the way down to the border of the Corcovado national park where we found and surfed a great beachbreak with not a soul in site and no footprints on the beach. I thought places like that only existed in postacards, and I felt like I had been injected into one. The places I found with the help if Jason and crew were amazing- so glad I booked it. Good food, good mates, and good waves- Pura Vida!
Back to Hermosa for a while, and then hitched a ride to the airport with Jason to pick up a friend- again, logistics all taken care of, all I had to do was show up- thanks guys! Rental car was easy, and we headed back to hermosa for a while (who wouldn't want to) and then south to pavones on our own with advice from Jason, Steve and other open friendly people around Hermosa.
Through the whole trip everything seemed to turn out for the best, with wrong turns opening up new doors and experiences unplanned for but more than welcome. The trip turned out so great I extended my trip to fit in a trip up north to score 8-10 foot witches and Ollies, which we surfed until we simply couldn't surf anymore- I never knew a beachbreak could be so good! After a month and a half of Costa Rican dreaming, I headed home, arms sore and sunburned but with great memories and a smile on my face. The world is a big place, so I don't know if I'll be back any time soon, but my memories of a great trip to the land of Pura Vida will not soon be forgotten, nor the great people I met, including Jason, John, and the whole crew at Cabinas Las Olas. Thanks guys for hooking me up- I would recommend the Cazadores package to anyone.
Pura Vida!

Hi John and Jason,
Jason, when we got back home I had to call John and tell him what a great time we had and thank him for steering us to Cabinas. He suggested I put it in writing for possible inclusion on the website – highlighting the fact that Cabinas is not just for surfers. So here’s my attempt. Hope this little “testimonial” will work for you. Believe me, it’s from the heart! Jason, you were the perfect host – so genuine, gracious and downright fun! Thanks again for everything, from the minute you met us at the airport with the professionally made welcome sign to our last day where you took us all the way up to Arenal and even led a follow the leader line through the hot springs – gotta love a guy that will do that! The girls are still talking about “Mr. Jason”. All in all, SUCH a good time. Can’t thank you enough. xox, Wendy
We just wanted to write and thank you for what was absolutely the most fantastic and unbelievable trip to Costa Rica we could have ever wanted or experienced. Cabinas las Olas turned out to be the ideal spot for our gang – our two families with 3 little girls between us – fit right into the whole vibe of the place and between the perfect location, the beautiful beach, the great restaurant and fabulous food, the warm, friendly and helpful staff, the other Cabinas guests who we met throughout our stay, the locals, the dogs, the fun adventures and excursions, and even the wild horse running up and down the beach, we found la pura vida and pure paradise right there at Cabinas las Olas! For an establishment that probably sees a lot more surfers that it does families with kids, let me just thank you for taking such fine care of us. Your help in planning our days and for taking us everywhere from the canopy tour to horseback riding to Manuel Antonio park to the waterfall to the Arenal volcano and even in and out of town for dinners and shopping, was very much appreciated. And then there’s the surf lessons – all the people who taught us were fun, helpful and very encouraging and although we’re not quite ready to tackle the waves in front of the hotel, we feel like that may be in our future some day. Back home now, trying to describe how wonderful our trip was to our friends, there’s just something about it that just can’t be put into words. I think it has to do with the state of mind you adopt when you’re there – a certain tranquility, an easiness, a peace of mind, and an overwhelming appreciation of a life and all its richness. As much as we accomplished in our 10 days, we never felt hurried or rushed – instead we just rolled through the days at a leisurely and relaxing pace, trusting that we were in the right place at the right time, and every time . . . . we were! Above all, we were treated like family and came away with not only great memories but some special new friends, as well.
So thanks again for all you did to make our trip so memorable, magnificent and life-altering. I know we’ll be coming back!
Most sincerely,
The Abrahams and the MacQueens
